Not only to preserve tradition and cultural heritage, but also as an effective promotional tool, aiming at the preservation of products that identify local popular culture and protect traditions and typical flavors.

The De.Co. initiative emphasizes the importance of an authentic link between products and their area of origin, contributing significantly to the enhancement of the cultural and gastronomic identity of the community.

Among the products distinguished with the De.Co. mark, the Red Bean, Lady's Bean, Lu scauniscu, and Tajedda-style puccia stand out for their peculiarities and links to local culture.

The territory of the Pulsano municipal countryside extends for about 1,800 hectares, bordering the marina for 3-4 km.

Traditional Recipes

Fava beans and chicory are a traditional dish of Apulian cuisine, and thus also of Pulsano tradition, where it is called "fave e fogghie" in dialect.

Lu scauniscu

The processing and consumption of the “scauniscu” in Pulsano are lost in the mists of time, having softened the hearts of entire generations with its taste and aroma coming from the wood-fired ovens of the past.

Pasulu ti la Signura

The Pasulu ti la Signura (“Lady’s bean”) is a white bean with a small carmine red coloration near the hilum. Very rare and endangered, it was the first to receive De.Co. recognition and inclusion in the Slow Food Ark of Taste.

Red Bean

This red bean, rare and typical of Pulsano, has been awarded the De.Co. brand, which certifies its local origin. Cultivated for more than one hundred and fifty years, the red bean is less known than the "Lady's bean," but it is just as good.
