The Pulsano summer offers the population and tourists an event with the most ancient origins. “Polso Sano”, now in its 40th edition, from 23rd to 24st August recalls the old tournaments between the districts that made up the town. The historic center comes alive and colors with parades and dances in medieval dress, shows of flag-wavers and jugglers, tables set with foods that recall the ancient flavors of the area. The most awaited event is the final "arm wrestling" tournament during which the people of Pulsano belonging to each district compete in , a tradition that dates back to very distant times, when the local nobles organized such tournaments on festive occasions. It seems that it is precisely from this custom that the name of the town of Pulsano derives.
